Garden of Peace

UNA Wales’ headquarters, the Temple of Peace in Cardiff, is home to the Welsh National Garden of Peace.

Founded in 1988, the garden was created by a series of international work-camps to celebrate the values of the Temple and to mark the building’s 50th anniversary. International volunteers planted the first trees and laid the mosaic around the central flagpole.

Further developments have been made by local volunteers who maintain the garden today, under the care of UNA Wales and the WCIA.

The Garden provides a place of tranquillity and beauty in the city centre. It is also a space where the contribution of the people of Wales to peace and social justice can be remembered. Many of the trees and shrubs have been donated in memory of special people or events. The Garden is also home to a number of commemorative plaques and monuments.

Visitors are welcome at any time – please enjoy the Garden and help us to keep it litter-free.
