The event in partnership with the Wales for Africa Health Links Network will be an opportunity to discuss progress, opportunities and challenges for links between hospitals and health professionals in Wales and those in Sub Saharan Africa.

10.30     Professor Judith Hall, Phoenix Project Update (Cardiff University)

Our partnership with the University of Namibia enables us to provide opportunities for shared learning and development across as many of our departments as possible. This is achieved through training, sharing educational resources, supporting staff, making student exchanges and providing information technology support.

13.30     Professor Alison Fiander, Leading Safe Choices Programme (Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology)

The RCOG Leading Safe Choices initiative aims to put the evidence into practice by strengthening the competence and raising the standing of family planning and abortion care professionals. In collaboration with colleagues in South Africa and Tanzania, we will promote best practices in postpartum contraception and comprehensive abortion care (CAC) in South Africa, and comprehensive post-abortion care (CPAC) in Tanzania.

14.00     Andrew Jones, Head of Partnerships (THET)

With over 25 years of working side by side with national governments in the UK and across Africa and Asia, THET has an admirable reputation as a strategic manager of grants which bring maximum value to the lives of patients both here in the UK and abroad.
