Haiti Earthquake Support CD

Haiti Fund Appeal

There is a widespread awareness of the Earthquake that caused devastation in Haiti earlier in the year, with one of the World’s poorest country being shaken to its very core. As a result a mass relief effort has taken place to try and help the survivors of the Earthquake to cope with the situation that they have been forced into and  to start rebuilding.

In conjunction with this the WCIA, with Phil Cope, Chairman of the Haiti Fund will be selling a CD, of which 100% of the profits will go to the Earthquake Disaster Relief charities in Haiti. The CD entitled “Haiti Vodou; The Voodoo Drums of Haiti” was produced by Steve Garrett and Welsh singer/songwriter Chris Rees, after having visited the Caribbean island in 2002 to work with schools in the north of the country as part of The Haiti Fund.

The two travelers recorded Haitian voodoo drummers at various locations for the CD. Mr. Garrett said: “It was a very energetic and quite an intense experience – nothing to do with the black magic voodoo is associated with. In fact it is more similar to gospel choir and church music.”

The CD is available at the Temple of Peace, Cardiff at a price of £10 with 100% of profit going to the Earthquake Disaster Relief Charities in Haiti.
