Date/Time: Thursday, May 13 2010

Venue:  Main Arts Lecture Theatre, Bangor University, College Road, Bangor

Speaker: Kenneth O. Morgan

In association with Bangor University and the Menai branch of UNA Wales, Kenneth O. Morgan (Baron Morgan of Aberdyfi), a historian and former principal of the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, will be speaking on Henry Richard.

Henry Richard (1812-88), known as the 'Apostle of Peace', was from Ceredigion and was a Congregationalist Minister and MP for Merthyr Tydfil for twenty years.  He influenced affairs on a European scale and was an early advocate for the idea of international arbitration.

Kenneth O. Morgan will look at Henry Richard's contribution to politics and peace in a historical context and also in terms of contemporary political developments.
