Speaker: Kenneth O. Morgan
In association with Bangor University and the Menai branch of UNA Wales, Kenneth O. Morgan (Baron Morgan of Aberdyfi), a historian and former principal of the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, will be speaking on Henry Richard.
Henry Richard (1812-88), known as the 'Apostle of Peace', was from Ceredigion and was a Congregationalist Minister and MP for Merthyr Tydfil for twenty years. He influenced affairs on a European scale and was an early advocate for the idea of international arbitration.
Kenneth O. Morgan will look at Henry Richard's contribution to politics and peace in a historical context and also in terms of contemporary political developments.
A specialist in modern British and Welsh history, Lord Morgan's many published works include biographies of David Lloyd George and Michael Foot.
UNACardiff and District Branch are holding a hustings on Wednesday, April 21 2010 at 6:30pm in the Council Chambers, Temple of Peace. Entry is free and all are welcome.
