What we do

The WCIA’s work is divided into four main activity strands:

Events

We organise many seminars and lectures each year, most of which are free of charge and open to anyone. Our events encourage discussion of a wide range of areas including human rights, international development, sustainability, international law, peace and conflict, and cultural and religious issues. Most take place in the evening at our base in the Temple of Peace, Cardiff.

Education

Through our schools arm, CEWC-Cymru, we help young people to develop the skills, knowledge and self-belief that they need to contribute to the future of Wales and the world.

Advocacy

We aim to influence public policy on international issues, in particular by campaigning to make the goals of the United Nations a reality through the United Nations Association Wales.

Capacity building

We support the work of other organisations in Wales with an international remit, in particular through the Wales International Development Hub.

Throughout all of our work, we adopt an open-minded approach, providing a neutral platform for debate and advocacy. While we support globally agreed principles, such as the Millennium Development Goals and Universal Declaration of Human Rights, our organisation has no political or religious affiliations.
