On March 31st, 2022, Academi Heddwch hosted a one-day (online) conference on the theme of Peace and Health. In partnership with the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol and Aberystwyth University, the call for papers for this event attracted contributions that explored peace and health through a variety of lenses.
Throughout the day, panels discussed peace and health in the context of:
• urban planning
• language planning
• engineering
• water
• well-being
• marginalised groups
• creativity
In this one-day conference, 7 panels and 14 experts – from engineers to linguists, from scientists to philosophers – considered the subject from different angles. Our keynote speakers were Professor Rowan Williams (Chair of Academi Heddwch Cymru), alongside Professor Colin McInnes (Pro Vice-Chancellor of Aberystwyth University) and Dr. Hefin Jones (Senior Lecturer and Director of Undergraduate Education at Cardiff University).
