Friends of the Earth
Britain’s bees are in trouble. 35 UK bees species are under threat of extinction, and all species face serious threats. Right now, they need us almost as much as we need them.
The intensive use of chemicals in agricultural farming is harming bees, and it won’t just be the bees that suffer from it. Without bees to keep our plants and crops alive, our food production will reduce massively and the fresh produce we do gather will be extremely expensive as it will become a scarce luxury.
Luckily, there are plenty of ways to try and prevent losing all of our bee species. Simple steps like asking your council to introduce a pollinator action plan or planting bee friendly plants in your garden can make all the difference, and little by little it can help us make our world bee-friendly again.
