On Monday, 13 November 2023, Doughnut Economics Action Lab (DEAL) will be launching Global Donut Day, to be held online and in-person around the world; a day of local, community-led festivals centred around ‘Doughnut Economics’, which offers a vision of what it means for humanity to thrive in the 21st century.

A unifying day of local action and global connection, the event will showcase keynote speakers such as Doughnut Economics author Kate Raworth, sessions with members of DEAL, and opportunities for international connection throughout the day.

Wales is one of thirty locations around the world from Melbourne to Mumbai, Beijing to Vermont participating in Global Donut Day by hosting a local Donut event, bringing people and organisations together around Doughnut Economics, to learn, connect, celebrate, imagine and inspire.

Whether you’ve only just heard the words Doughnut Economics, or you’re already putting the ideas into practice, we warmly welcome you to join us for Global Donut Day in Wales. You can find out more about the global programme at doughnuteconomics.org/globaldonutday.

Doughnut Economics proposes an economic mindset that’s fit for our times. It’s not a set of policies and institutions, but rather a way of thinking to bring about the regenerative and distributive dynamics that this century calls for.

“I know I’m going to be massively inspired by what communities have been making happen, and I can’t wait to see the peer-to-peer ripples of inspiration that this brings about. If you want to learn more about putting doughnut economics into action where you are – join us!”Kate Raworth, Doughnut Economics author and co-founder of Doughnut Economics Action Lab.
