How to explore issues in sensitive and empowering ways
About this event
Wars in Europe and other areas of the world, worries about climate change and how refugees are treated – how can we deal with issues such as these so that young people are informed but not overwhelmed, are able to see things from different perspectives and feel able to act as ethical, informed citizens to make a difference?
In this free online INSET session, we will look at examples of how schools have dealt with controversial issues, enabling their learners to acquire knowledge from different sources, discuss different points of view respectfully, and take action for change.
Participants will hear from colleagues who have developed projects in their schools, learn about free resources and initiatives that can support them and have time in smaller groups to discuss successes and challenges in dealing with controversial issues.
