Following the inaugural ‘gardening bee’ session in June, the Temple Friends group will be continuing monthly volunteer gatherings to maintain and spruce up Wales’ National Garden of Peace: cleaning and improve the memorials within it, and where appropriate add new planting, flags and public information.

The gardening bee will start from 4pm for approx 1.5-2 hours, with tea and cake from 5.30pm in the Hall of Nations and / or Peace Garden.

‘Creative Conversation’

‘What’s your vision for the Temple of Peace & Health and for the Peace Garden? Join us for an open forum to share your creative ideas.’ An open discussion and opportunity for Temple Friends to input, explore and exchange inspiration on how the building and garden could inspire and involve more people.

Gardening Help

Tasks are wide ranging and mostly practical: weeding, raking, planting, pruning, cleaning / fixing memorials, installing replacements, replacing flags, installing, varnishing / painting and securing benches and tables, developing improved public information, etc. We are aiming to undertake working bees roughly monthly (slightly less over winter months), and hoping to involve groups who have memorials in the peace garden to share and celebrate their peace heritage, and to explore other opportunities for collaboration.

We’d be grateful if you could register via the link below so we have an idea of who will be coming. Temple Friends and volunteers / supporters in the widest sense are most welcome (such as members from groups who have memorials in the Peace Garden), and WCIA staff will be attending to support.

Peace Garden Memorials Trail

This event offers the opportunity for supporters and trustees to trial the newly developed ‘Peace Garden Memorials Trail‘, enabling visitors to use their mobile phones / tablet devices to explore the garden, find 50+ memorials, and discover the stories behind them (along with digitised archives on each).
