On 3 December 2022, the Warm This Winter Day of Action was held at the Senedd. To symbolize warmth, the participants were dressed in yellow. Similar actions took place in many British cities on the day.
People are experiencing a cost-of-living crisis, a climate emergency and an energy crisis and these crises are connected.
The Warm This Winter campaign is calling on the Welsh Government to address these combined crises.
On the Day of Action, participants discussed emergency support for vulnerable households, an ambitious energy efficiency programme, investment in low-cost renewables and freeing people from expensive fossil fuels.
Campaign Coordinator for Climate Cymru, Bethan Sayed said: “We know people are struggling during these times and we prefer not to have to be here to say we need more support for something fundamental as human rights as having homes warm during this season, but we are here.”
A petition was launched on the day of action to ask the Welsh Government to act now and keep people Warm This Winter.
