On the 2nd of July, in Grangetown Pavillion (Cardiff), it began the first conference of #SummerUndod2022. Dealing with the topics of climate justice, gender, and sustainable livelihoods, Hub Cymru Africa has organised a series of in-person networking conferences all across Wales.
The event on Saturday in Cardiff was divided into three main parts. It started with an all-female panel discussion on solidarity and climate change. It counted regional participants like Barbara Davies Quy from Size of Wales, Mari McNail from Christian Aid, Clare James from Climate Cymru, and two overseas speakers partners of Hub Cymru Africa, Lona and Deborah.
They all agreed on the need to take action, not only on a state and regional level but also as individuals. Our actions concerning climate change and justice affect other areas of our life, from food security to unfair distribution of wealth and even gender patterns and women’s rights. By the end of the panel, each speaker advised on how we could prevent climate change and transform our way of doing things. From being more conscious about our consumption (food, clothes, etc.) to advocating for governments and communities to act in favour of climate justice.

The afternoon continued with the realisation of two different workshops. One based on sustainable fashion and a second one about migration and climate change. Following the 1 hour workshop, assistants were free to make use of the facilities and network, join stands or conduct more informal chats.
