Professor Colin McInnes is Director of Research, Impact and Excellence at Aberystwyth University. Based in the Department of International Politics, he is a UNESCO Professor and holds the UNESCO Chair in HIV/AIDS Education and Health Security in Africa. He has been vice-chair of the UK National Commission for UNESCO since 2015, and in 2017 received the Special Achievement Award at the inaugural Wales Social Research awards. Professor McInnes has published widely on global health issues and on security. He has advised Public Health Wales on its development of an international health strategy and the InterAction Council (a group of over 40 former presidents and prime ministers) on global health issues.
