WCIA Trustees Board – Vacancies 2025

Can you help us build a nation of global citizens who learn, collaborate, and act for peace, social, and climate justice? Join us in making a difference on the Welsh Centre for International Affairs trustee board. As a trustee, you will:

  • Guide the WCIA’s future development, strategy, and governance—empowering our incredible staff to achieve their impact while ensuring strong oversight of financial, safeguarding, and operational aspects.
  • Connect regularly with trustees, staff, volunteers and stakeholders — online, in hybrid settings, and in person at the Temple of Peace in Cardiff and other locations — to drive progress and uphold our values and goals.
  • We ask that candidates can commit approximately 8 working days per year and are expected to attend at least 3 out of 4 board meetings per year (dates will be arranged 1 year in advance, and arrangements can be made to join remotely). We also have an annual ‘away day’ which we ask board members to attend, and there will be opportunities to join in activities with staff and volunteers.

Our current trustees come from diverse backgrounds, united by a shared passion for building a fairer, more peaceful, and healthier planet. WCIA are actively seeking trustees who are:

  • Enthusiastic about our purpose and committed to connecting people, building partnerships, and inspiring action.
  • Curious and willing to ask questions, bringing fresh ideas and perspectives to our work.
  • Passionate about our areas of focus: peace, heritage, global learning, and climate justice.
  • Guided by kindness and solidarity, fostering collaboration and support in every aspect of our mission.

We particularly encourage applications from young people, individuals from under-represented groups such as the global majority, and disabled applicants. We welcome individuals with diverse skills, experiences, and perspectives, but we’re particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience in finance, HR, fundraising, or communications. Whether you have specific expertise or a strong interest in our work, you can help shape our future.
