The year 2025 marks 80 years since the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. Even now, however, there are still over 12,000 nuclear weapons in existence on the planet. As we approach the 80th year of the bombing, we invite you to reflect on peace.

6th August 2025 will witness events world wide to mark Hiroshima Day; in Wales, 3 events will take place simultaneously north and south, at the National Eisteddfod in Wrexham, Swansea’s Waterfront Museum, and at Wales’ National Temple of Peace & Health in Cardiff.

Temple of Peace, Cardiff – Temple Friends Gathering & Treeplanting

About Hiroshima Day

August 6 every year is commemorated as Hiroshima Day, remembering thre many tens of thousands killed when the world’s first atomic bombs were dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the United States at the closew of World War Two.

2025 marks the 80th Anniversary of Hiroshima Day, for which WCIA alongside partners SGI UK, CND Cymru and others hope to plant a special memorial tree in Wales’ National Garden of Peace. Further details will be confirmed as the date approaches, but it is likely that a short ceremony and public event will complement the ‘normal routine’ of the monthly Temple Friends gatherings – timings TBC.
